Casa San Augustin is a wonderful and stylish boutique hotel, set in 17th century colonial homes. The rooms are comfy, quiet and relaxing, with wooden beams and stonework, spacious bathrooms, great AC (a must). If you can splurge, I highly recommend booking the Premium Suite with garden and jacuzzi (with one caveat - see downsides), perfect to cool off from the Colombian heat; the shared pool is also a bit on the small side. The hotel is ideally located at the heart of the walled city of Cartagena. We explored many restaurants from there (I recommend Uma Cantina and Carmen for the foodies and Tacos del Gordo for a more “hole in the wall” experience). Alma – the hotel’s restaurant – also serves delicious a la carte breakfast and Colombian dishes for lunch and dinner. The staff is very professional and charming. Overall, a great pick in a city with many options.

Very charming and historic property with beautiful plants and several courtyards. Breakfast in the courtyard with a good selection of ala carte options and a mimosa on the house - great way to start your day here. The front desk team is super- esp. Paola and Esteban. They will be in touch via WhatsApp before you arrive - to ensure your arrival is smooth. They were responsive to our dismay with the first room (see comments below) and helped move us to a wonderful room #201 which was so quiet, facing the inner courtyard, and had a kitchenette and separate living and dining room. The Aurum Spa is excellent and the pool - though tiny, provides a nice relief in this sweltering time of the year. Love the Ortigia Sicilia bath amenities.

Keng

A beautifully restored monastery in the heart of the old walled city of Cartagena, with a great location. The service, from check in to check out, was excellent. The little touches made everything more than perfect—-turn down service with delicious little sweets, complimentary bottled water by the pool, a chef willing to make almost any dish on request, fresh juice and fresh fruit at breakfast and in the rooms daily, excellent concierge service with fabulous dining recommendations, tea and sweets at 5 pm. The bed was very comfortable, the way the hotel was decorated, the music playing by the pool, and great, but low key, security.

I knew the Casa San Agustin would be nice, but I didn't know that it would be exceptional. From the moment we stepped in the property, we were met with the most helpful staff, most beautiful property, and most comfortable room. From all aspects, this property is above and beyond. There is not a thing I would wish to change, only that we could have stayed longer. Special thanks to Paula and Marco who made our stay extra special.

Rachel

Hotel was small and beautiful. Breakfast was delicious and included. Staff was exceptional. Because it was small we felt we met everyone staying at the hotel. The rooms are very dark and our keys did not work at all so we had to keep schanhing them. Recommend the hotel highly
